Dominick Benedetto, MD

Dr. Benedetto is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and Surgeon and has been a member of the medical staff at the Center for Advanced Eyecare since 2017. Prior to his association with The Center for Advanced Eyecare, he was a practicing cataract and refractive surgeon in New Jersey.

Dr. Benedetto received his MD and MS in Immunology and Medical Microbiology from The University of Florida College of Medicine. Following graduation from medical school, he served as an intern in internal medicine at The Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. and a two-year military obligation as the Chief of the US Army Health Clinic in Bayonne, NJ.

He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and remained on staff for 12 years to educate residents in training at Wills as an Associate Attending Surgeon on the Cataract and Primary Eye Care Service.

Dr. Benedetto is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

His research fellowships include training grants from the National Institutes of Health and research fellowships from The University of Florida College of Medicine and The Delaware Valley Eye Bank.

He has published research in peer reviewed journals and medical texts and has been a guest speaker at national and international symposia in the areas of ophthalmic surgery and ophthalmic biomaterials. He has been a regular guest speaker at The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey and Rutgers University graduate bioengineering courses.
